Mad Painter

We are RETRO ROCKERS,
We embrace the melodic rock traditions of the '70s.
We play ORIGINAL music!
Our styles range from psychedelic rock to glam and heavy melodic guitar and Hammond-driven rock.
Think Mott the Hoople, Slade, Sweet the Faces, Deep Purple, Nazareth, as well as epic heavy anthems in the vein of Uriah Heep.
We don't just play, we PERFORM, we ENTERTAIN!
We are looking for a few great venues in the New England area to showcase our talents.

Mad Painter, based in Boston, MA. area, is deeply rooted in the melodic rock tradition of the 1970s. We play mostly original music, ranging from Woodstock-era psychedelic rock to glam-tinged rock 'n' roll a-la Mott the Hoople and the Faces, to epic heavy anthems in the vein of Uriah Heep.

Mad Painter are: Alex Gitlin, the songwriter and creator of the band’s concept. He is backed by drummer Al Hendry (Bubba Loaf, Tokyo Tramps), bassist Kenne Highland (ex-Gizmos, Hopelessly Obscure, Johnny & The Jumper Cables, Africa Corps.) and guitarist Al Naha (The Thigh Scrapers), who plays with Kenne in Kenne Highland Airforce. And, last but not least, backing vocalist Julie Gee.

With the release of the 2023 album, 'Splashed', the group has garnered enthusiastic and positive feedback from critics and journalists, as well as worldwide radio airplay. The follow-up to 'Splashed', 'Island Poetry', is currently in the final mixing stage.

It's always a good time when you come to a Mad Painter show, and you know what to expect - nostalgic 70s rock vibes and stage gear to match, great musicianship and songs that will make you get up, dance, sing and clap along. It’s a party you definitely want to attend!

Mad Painter's third album, Island Poetry, is poised to be released in 2026. It's preceded by three new singles from this album, Empty BottlesDebt Collector and Spin Your Ventilator.
